Alejandro Penados is a partner of Comte & Font – Legalsa. He works in the Firm’s dispute resolution practice.
Alejandro’s professional practice focuses on complex dispute resolution, including arbitration and civil, commercial and constitutional litigation; intellectual property litigation and enforcement, including actions against piracy, counterfeiting and unfair competition.
His recent experience has included litigation of a nationwide conflict between two multinational mass consumer goods companies, with multiple concurrent proceedings; litigation against the Guatemalan State, in relation to concessions, including one of Guatemala’s largest government contracts in the last decade; development and implementation of strategies to secure the local capture of foreign individuals wanted by European authorities; litigation to ensure local enforcement of foreign sentences; and defense of private companies against charges of tax fraud.
Alejandro is a graduate of Universidad Rafael Landívar. He has an LLM in Corporate Legal Counseling from Instituto de Empresa de Madrid (Spain) and postgraduate studies in Commercial Law and Competitiveness from Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala and in Economic Criminal Law (white collar crime) Universidad del Istmo de Guatemala. He is currently working toward a PhD in Commercial and Tax Law from Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala
