Ronny Aguilar is a partner of Comte & Font – Legalsa. He leads the Firm’s energy practice.
Ronny’s professional practice focuses on Energy law and Port law.
He is one of Guatemala´s leading experts in energy regulation. He has worked of over fifteen years with the electric power sector, advising and representing generators, distributors, transporters, large scale consumers, regulatory agencies and the Guatemalan government. He has been a member of the board of directors of AMM (Administrator of the Electricity Wholesale Market), director and chairman of CDMER (Directory Council of the Regional Electricity Market), and member of the Technical Committee of the INDE (National Institute for Electrification) Trust for Rural Works in Eastern and Western Guatemala.
Ronny also has worked extensively with the seaport sector, where he worked as counsel to public seaport administrator Empresa Portuaria Quetzal; and in the public sector, as legal counsel to Fonapaz (National Peace Fund), INGUAT (Guatemalan Institute of Tourism), SEGEPLAN (Guatemalan Department of Economic Planning), the Guatemalan Ministry of Energy and Mining and the Ministry of Education.
Ronny is a graduate of Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala, and holds several postgraduate certifications: in Electricity Sector Regulation, from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (Spain); in Public Procurement Systems and in Port Management in International Commerce, both from Universidad Internacional de Andalucía (Spain); and in Oil and Gas Industry, from Vincent College, McKenna School of Business, Economics and Government (Pennsylvania, USA).
